In this project we developed a geospatial health and development indicator atlas for India to support planning activities undertaken by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). This involved the assembly and harmonization of existing geospatial data relating to key indicators of interest to CIFF, as well as the development and implementation of models to construct new datasets.

We made outputs openly available through a web portal to provide a common good ‘living atlas’  in addition to the CIFF-specific support and provided materials to facilitate uptake and use of the atlas and its datasets. Throughout the project, we built links and maintain interactions with institutions in India to facilitate sustained data use and analysis beyond the timescales of the project. 

The work was composed of three main activities:

1. the assembly and harmonization of existing geospatial datasets,
2. the construction of new datasets through geospatial modelling approaches and
3. the integration of the outputs of (1) and (2) into an online interactive atlas, together with outreach and training materials.

At various stages throughout the project, reports/papers were prepared to meet CIFF requirements.
