In the Small area population estimates 1 tutorial we describe random forest methods and demonstrate how to implement this method in the R statistical programming environment to create population count estimates for census enumeration areas (EAs). In this tutorial, we apply the random forest method at 100m grid resolution using a new R package called ‘popRF’.
