Dr Chibuzor Christopher Nnanatu (Chris)

Dr Chibuzor Christopher Nnanatu (Chris) is a Senior Research Fellow, managing the WorldPop modelling team – and a Lecturer specialising in Statistics and Environmental Science. His areas of expertise span Spatial and Spatio-temporal statistical modelling, Bayesian statistics, Computational statistics,  with focus on tackling topical environmental and public health issues including environmental pollution,  and promotion of child and maternal health. He has a BSc (Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria – Unizik), MSc (Unizik) and PhD (Lancaster) all in statistics, with teaching and research experience spanning over 13 years. Chris’ current research activities revolve around developing novel statistical techniques to account for measurement errors and quantifying uncertainties, including the development of novel Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms and integrated nested Laplace approximation (INLA) techniques for the analysis of complex household surveys data such as the Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) and Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS), and data emanating from partially observed complicated endemic diseases including Covid-19.
